Lords to La Manga challenge

- By Barry Wright bwright@cbnews.es

During the month of February, La Manga Torre Cricket Club (LMTCC) will be attempting to cover the same distance as from their home ground at La Manga Club, Murcia all the way to the home of sport in London – Lords Cricket Ground, totalling up to 2,123 kilometres.

All of the club members will either be running, walking or cycling in order to try and reach this goal.

Through a GoFundMe campaign, LMTCC is aiming to raise funds which will be split 50/50 between various charities and the club's expenses for pitch hire, practice

facility hire, travel costs, etc.

The chosen charities are: Reach Out Torrevieja, helping the homeless and needy in the Torrevieja area; Cutaneous Lymphoma foundation, providing support for those diagnosed with the disease; and Los Infiernos Perrera - helping and rehoming animals in the Murcia region and Alicante province.

After a successful season in 2020, amidst the trouble of the Covid-19 pandemic, LMTCC were crowned champions of the ECCL T20 League and advanced to the national finals.

The national finals have not taken place yet due to the travel restrictions within Spain that have put a pause on all of their

cricket adventures.

The winners of this final will go onto represent Spain in the 2nd edition of the European Cricket League - the Champions League of European cricket.

The funds raised by this challenge will go towards the preparation for these huge cricketing events.

“We are so grateful for any contribution and we can’t wait to take on this challenge. Thank you so much,” says LMTCC.
