SOLUTION: I played the word SEZ to achieve 67 points - across the bottom to make ST, ET and ZO as well. I was surprised to find it was accepted as I thought it was a French word. However, like so many words in our language it has been adopted as a slang word for 'says'.
ALONGSIDE a number of other municipalities, San Pedro del Pinatar and Los Alcázares are moving their traditional carnival celebrations online in order to recreate at least some of the fun and flamboyance that normally fills the streets of both towns at this time of year.
San Pedro del Pinatar is hosting a programme of ‘varied activities, gift presentations, image streaming and a showing of the video Volveremos (we will be back)’.
Councillor for fiestas Javier Castejón invites residents to email fancy dress photographs – stating the person’s full name and age – to festejos@sanpedrodelpinatar.es, from today (February 12) to February 16. All published photos will receive a gift, which can be collected from the town hall, with a prior appointment obtained by telephoning 607 158 845.
The Facebook page: Festejos San Pedro del Pinatar is streaming images of previous carnivals throughout the weekend, including a screening of the video Volveremos on Sunday at 17.00. The video pays homage to the 40 carnival associations and groups from throughout Murcia region, who parade through the streets of the municipality
every year at this time.
Finally, on February 16, the Facebook page will host an exhibition of carnival masks that were awarded to participants in the celebration from 2000-2020.
In Los Alcázares there is going to be an online carnival fancy dress contest featuring cash prizes for the winners. The winners will be decided by an online vote by residents.
To take part, participants have until February 16 to email photographs to direccion.halona@gmail.com. Once this date has passed the images will be published on the Festejos Los Alcázares Facebook page on February 17-18. The photos that receive the most amount
of ‘likes’ will be deemed the winners.

Councillor for fiestas José Carlos Castejón said: “Since we cannot fill our streets with music, colour and joy, we must at least maintain the illusion and essence of this celebration so, from the town hall, I encourage both children and their elders to participate in the online workshops and the fancy dress contest.”

Until May 8: Torrevieja symphony orchestra are returning to the stage of the town’s international auditorium for a season of concerts. Tickets cost between €10 and €25 for all performances, except the final concert where they range from €7 to €20. A season ticket covering five performances costs from €75 to €95.
