Alfaz Fantasy Football League

- By Eric Malpus Week 27

THE PREMIER League was back in action after the last international break of the season and I'm pleased to report that most of the players returned fit and well and ready to go as we enter the later stages of the Fantasy League. Although there were not many games, there was plenty of action which gave the Fantasy a total of 31 goals, just two clean sheets, 25 yellow cards and only one red one, which was Chelsea's Thiago Silva who received two yellows from referee David Coote that didn't help Chelsea as they slumped to a shock 5-2 defeat against relegationthreatened West Brom.

Fantasy League leaders, Clara's Babes suffered a poor scoring week only picking up eight points, which allowed second placed Milton Keynes to close the gap at the top to 34 points. I have mentioned in the last few weeks to keep an eye on last season's winning manager, Chris' team Magpies Forever who have now slotted in into third place and are well within striking distance of the summit. Down at the foot of the table. Len's team Do Better lived up to their name and collected 28 points which was higher than the average score. They are now just four points behind Dave's Bogtrotters Rerun.

There is no chance of any change at the top of our Junior League in the foreseeable future with Clara's Babes already been crowned champions. However, the fight for runner-up goes on with William & Henry Two looking favourites with a 33 point advantage over Alisson Wonderland. At the opposite end of the table, Olly's 11 have it all to do to catch Andrew's Dolphins who are 86 points above them.

Lillian's Press Gang moved up to second place in our Mark Carter Ladies Section and have closed to within 54 points of the leaders Sky Blues. Nikki's Liverpool 94 are still holding the rest of the girls up at the bottom and beginning to look a good bet for the drop. a bit like Blades at the bottom of the Premier League.

After two weeks of not picking up any points in our Golden Boot League, the leaders Old Salfordians finally scored 12 points thanks to Mo Salah and Danny Ings which has managed to fend off the challenge from Dave's Patangyangkipperbang who are only six points away. Pompey Hammers are also well in contention in third place. At the other end of the table, we find Len's Do Better fighting relegation on two fronts as they trail Armanello by 15 points.

Lucy's Luck is this week's top scorers with 49 points to their name, they will go into the hat for our monthly wine draw along with Kemp United, Bronte Village, Tasty Toffees and Have an Emery Xmas who all got the lowest score of five points.

Lucy's Luck has taken an early four point lead over two teams Lillian's Press Gang and Swanola in our manager of the month for April.

Our K.O. Cup competition took place at the weekend and I have not had time to get all the points with two games being played on Monday night, but I can tell you that the favourites Patangyangkipperbang have been knocked out by our only Junior manager's team Ginger Ninja in the shock result of the round. A full report will follow next week.
