Ballester's books
SAN Fulgencio writer José María Ballester has donated copies of all of his works to the town’s municipal library.
His research papers on the history of San Fulgencio have also been made available as a digital download through the municipal website at www.sanfulgencio.es
The donation formed part of the town’s World Book Day celebrations, which takes place annually on April 23.
Mayor José Sampere took possession of physical copies of each of the books which, from now on, will become part of the municipal library.
In this way, the books ‘San Fulgencio y la vaca murciana’ (San Fulgencio and the Murcian cow), ‘Matapavos’ (turkey killer), ‘Al-Mudawwar, la leyenda sarracena’ (Al-Mudawwar, the Saracen legend), ‘San Fulgencio, real villa.
and ‘Graan Sool’, are ‘now available on the library shelves for the enjoyment of all residents’, said the mayor.
At the same time José María Ballester also donated several copies of his books to the local school library.
The municipal library donation consists of the author’s entire bibliography and includes ‘both historical novels set in the Vega Baja region and research works on the origin and history of the municipality’, said Sr Ballester.
The writer expressed his gratitude to the town hall ‘for the work done to promote culture on a day like today, World Book Day’.
The mayor acknowledged ‘the generous gesture the author has made to the inhabitants of San Fulgencio by making these works available to all residents, which will allow us to know a little more about the origins and history of the municipality’.
