Workshops for the elderly
ELCHE city hall department for the elderly is putting on three online workshops in May.
The free courses intend to promote memory training, managing emotions, and developing an interest in reading.
Councillor for the elderly Puri Vives encouraged older residents to participate in these sessions.
She acknowledged the ‘exemplary behaviour of the collective that has been the most affected during the pandemic, but from which we have learned the most’.
The workshops will take place via Zoom and Webex.
The ‘active mind’ memory workshops start on May 4 and take place from 09.3011.00 every Tuesday and Thursday until June 24.
The ‘emotional intelligence’ course runs from May 3 to June 23 and takes place every Monday and Wednesday from 11.00-12.30.
The ‘reading club’ will be used as a tool to work on subjects such as understanding, attention, imagination, and creativity, amongst others. It aims to encourage reflection, opinion sharing, and to foster social interaction.
Participants will be required to read the book ‘El eco de la piel’ (the echo of the skin) by the Alicante author Elia Barceló.
The workshop will take place every Wednesday from 09.30-11.00 from May 5 to June 16.
The councillor pointed out that ‘at the moment what comes first is safety against
Covid’, and indicated that she is ‘optimistic and confident that in a short time we will be doing these activities in person again’.
Registration is essential and is taking place by telephone on 96 665 82 63 or email to mayores@elche.es
All activities will be in Spanish.
