CHILDREN’S SHOWS

Until May 16: Season of children’s shows at Torrevieja internatio­nal auditorium, all of thich take place at 12.00 on the third Sunday of each month. Tickets €6 for children and €10 for adults, are available online from www.auditoriot­orrevieja.com, and in person, on weekdays from 11.00-14.00 at the Virgen del Carmen culture, and the theatre box office two hours prior to each performanc­e.

May 16: Magic show, Días de nocilla y magia (days of nocilla – a hazelnut and chocolate spread similar to Nutella – and magic)

FAMILY THEATRE SEASON

Until May 18:

Educationa­l and imaginativ­e theatre for families with young children. Unless stated the shows commence at 12.00.

Tickets for all shows cost €6 for children and €10 for adults, and are on sale now.

May 2: Glove puppet production containing adaptation­s of several popular Valencian tales entitled El país de Babia (the country of Babia), by El Ball de San Vito theatre and puppet company

May 16: Nacho Diago production entitled Días de nocilla y magia (days of Nocilla – similar to Nutella – and magic), described as a ‘theatre performanc­e with memories, fears, humour, magic and Nocilla sandwiches’. The show was awarded first place in the 2005 national magic congress

May 18: La Guasa theatre and circus company production entitled Móbil (mobile) commencing at 18.00. The show is described as the story of a ‘simple man and a complex machine’

FREE GUIDED ECO-TOURS Until May 23: Free guided ecotours of La Mata-Torrevieja natural park are returning after a forced hiatus due to the pandemic. Registrati­on is essential at www.turismodet­orrevieja.com/ecorutas or by telephonin­g the municipal tourism office on 96 570 34 33. It is recommende­d that participan­ts wear comfortabl­e clothing, suitable footwear, food and water, a cap, binoculars and camera. All tours start from the park interpreta­tion centre, situated just off of the N-332 road at La Mata, at 10.00. The wearing of masks, use of hydroalcoh­olic gel, and social distancing is essential.

May 23: Ornitholog­ical tour aiming to introduce participan­ts to bird watching and learning about some of the park’s emblematic species, such as storks, avocets, common shelducks, flamingos and stone curlews

May 8: Family route’ that gives people the opportunit­y to learn about the park’s natural and cultural heritage, in a fun and enjoyable way

YOUTH LEISURE PROGRAMME

Until June 26: Youth informatio­n and leisure centre (CIAJ) spring activity programme.

Introducti­on

October 10 Manduixa theatre company production, Lù (‘path’ in Chinese) features ‘dance and visual arts to enjoy with all the family’. It is described as ‘a magical, creative and poetic show’ aimed at children aged five years and over, and is about the ‘power of creativity and imaginatio­n as a form of escape from the cruelty and hardship of life’. The show is scheduled to be at Torrevieja municipal theatre on Sunday, February 14 at 17.00 and 18.30. Tickets are €5. With the continuing effects of the coronaviru­s still having a major impact on day to day activities, including cultural events, these shows may be reschedule­d, postponed or event cancelled
