How you can support Jalón Valley Help

- By Peter Sockett and photo by JVH

HOPEFULLY, after following our articles over the last three weeks - 'What JVH does', 'How JVH is funded' and 'How can I help JVH', you will realise that Jalón Valley Help is a local charity that is well-deserving of our support, as it supports anyone in need in our community - principally the Jalón and Orba valleys. Obviously, the charity is always very grateful for financial donations, but it also needs our support, by attending fundraising events and as volunteer members of the friendly and pro-active team running this charity. No charity can survive without funding and personnel, so please decide today to make a positive action of support.

The next fundraising event will be a games night to be held at 19.00 on Wednesday, April 5, at Pepe’s in Alcalalí. The games are based on the UK television quiz shows Countdown, Family Fortunes, Tenable, House of Games and Eggheads, and will take place along with a two-course meal. Tickets are €16 and available by telephone on 635 873 133, or you can email eventsjvh@gmail.com

More rewarding support can be provided by volunteering to help at any level within the charity’s structure, from the management committee to helping at their shops or even distributing event posters. We are lucky, because at this time

JVH has three very interesting management roles to fill, so if you have the skills, or believe you can learn the skills, please call 634 310 415 to discuss how you could help as:

Charity secretary – an important position at the very heart of the charity

Shops' representative – this is a new position involved in stocking, marketing and staffing decisions at the three shops (Jalón/Alcalalí/Orba) Events managers – fundraising events are a major life-blood of the charity, and what could be more rewarding and fun than leading a team to a successful event, raising much needed funds?

JVH will be holding its AGM on March 29 at the Ánimo centre in Alcalalí. Why not come along and see what a friendly bunch of people they are and discuss how you can support them in doing what they do best – helping anyone in need.

So let’s not put off volunteering until a friend/ family member actually needs JVH’s help. Let’s volunteer our services today.

See our website www.jalonvalleyhelp.com or call Pam Brooks, JVH president, on 634 310 415 to discuss how you can help with time or donations.
