• On Sunday we have Spain’s El Clásico LaLiga encounter involving Barcelona against Real Madrid at the Camp Nou. Right now, Real lead in head-to-head matches with 101 wins to Barcelona's 99, with 52 draws. Barcelona lead the way in exhibition games with 20 victories to Madrid's four, with 10 draws and in an overall total of 286 fixtures played to date, Barca have won 119, Real 105, with 62 draws

• We have four FA Cup quarter-final ties coming up – Manchester City v Burnley tomorrow, followed on Sunday by Brighton v Grimsby, Manchester United v Fulham and Sheffield United v Blackburn

• There are also important Premiershi­p games involving clubs battling against relegation, and they are Aston Villa v Bournemout­h, Chelsea v Everton, Southampto­n v Tottenham and Wolves v Leeds

• This Sunday, the second F1 Grand Prix of the year takes place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Last year’s winner was champion Max Verstappen with Charles Leclerc second and Carlos Sainz third

• There are three PGA stroke play golf competitio­ns currently taking place: the Valspar Championsh­ip in Tampa Bay, USA; the DP World Tour at the St Francis Links course in South Africa and the Ladies European Tour Aramco Team series at Laguna in Singapore

• From Monday until next Sunday (March 26), we have the annual UCI WorldTour cycle race, the Volta a Cataluña, here in Spain. The race itself runs through Llivia, La Molina, Olost, Sabadell, Martorell and Molins de Rey and ends in Barcelona. A total of 25 teams will be taking part in the 102nd staging of this event, which will see riders covering over 1,200 kilometres

• Cheltenham’s five-day festival ends today, and my eachway tip in the Gold Cup is Stattler

• Also this weekend we have the men’s and women’s singles and respective doubles finals at the Indian Wells tennis tournament

• England’s cricketers lost their recent T20 series 3-0 against Bangladesh and India will play Australia in cricket’s World Test Championsh­ip final at The Oval in early June

• Finally… Dick Fosbury (he introduced the famous ‘flop’ high-jump, has died aged 76, and Baroness Masham, a 1960s paralympia­n and the longesteve­r serving female member of the House of Lords, has died aged 87
