Brothel PR man arrested for selling drugs
GUARDIA Civil officers have arrested a 44-year-old suspect for allegedly selling drugs to the public from a La Cala Villajoyosa apartment.
Complaints from residents about noise, disturbances and the unusual movement of people during the night led to an investigation which was launched earlier this year.
After ‘arduous investigative work’, the officers discovered the identity of the suspect accused of causing the disturbance, and discovered that he was allegedly peddling cocaine. As he was aware that complaints were being made about him, he had begun to operate outside the urbanisation so as to not arouse suspicion, explained a force spokesperson.
Officers closely monitored his movements, discovering he had moved his appointments with his regular clients to streets and establishments in the area.
They also found out that he ‘carried out public relations work for several brothels in Finestrat and Benidorm’ and also rented a storage room in Finestrat which could have been used as a warehouse for drugs.
His bank account showing ‘lots of transactions for small amounts’ also attracted the investigators’ attention.
Having gathered the necessary information and obtained a warrant, two searches were carried out, one at the apartment in La Cala and the other at the Finestrat storage facility.
Officers reported finding a total of 210 grams of rock cocaine, most of which was found in the storage room, as well as ‘evidence that verified the commission of the crimes’.
The suspect, who is Spanish, was arrested in Villajoyosa and charged with a crime against public health, drug trafficking and money laundering, and placed at the disposal of a Villajoyosa judge, who ordered him to be remanded in custody without bail.
Thanks to this operation, ‘an important small scale cocaine sales set up has been dismantled’, noted the spokesman.
