Council announces new investments
SAN Fulgencio council has approved its budget for 2023, with over €370,000 of the almost €9.5 million spending plan allocated for investments in the town centre and urbanisations.
Mayor José Sampere said the total amount is more than in previous years but assured the figures are ‘adjusted and balanced’.
Amongst the ‘important’ investments is €59,000 to refurbish the municipal archaeology museum, ‘a project that has been very necessary for a long time, which will enable us to showcase the history of San Fulgencio’, he explained.
“It will enable us to develop the museum project which the patrimonial wealth of our archaeological sites deserves, and will offer visitors a new opportunity to get to know the municipality,” he commented.
New cameras
Another investment is €55,000 for traffic and security cameras, including the acquisition of eight new devices with number plate reading and identification technology, as well as replacing the 26 cameras on municipal buildings.
“They will help to increase security by providing valuable information to local police officers,” claimed the mayor.
There is also over €68,000 for renovating and resurfacing streets and improving signposting in the town and the urbanisations.
Another €13,000 is for new furniture in municipal premises, including the urbanisations social centre, the town civic centre, the tourism office, the study hall and training classroom, sporting installations and schools.
And a sign announcing the name of the municipality at the main access point is to be purchased for €12,000.
Employee expenditure
The bulk of the budget is for staffing costs and running expenses, which account for over €3.8M each, and just €600 for paying interest and loan instalments.
A total of €1,124,750 is accounted for by various subsidies granted to the town hall from other administrations.
“This is a very complete project which features the projects that we considered to be priorities to improve San Fulgencio and the daily life of our residents,” added the mayor.
