Early attention centre on track

THE VEGA Baja association for people with functional diversity

(ADIS) recently received donation of €5,000 from the telecommunications company VegaFibra.

The money is to help equip the association’s new early attention centre (CAT) in Benejúzar, which is in the final stages of preparation.

The cheque was presented by VegaFibra representative Ángel Pic, to ADIS president Lourdes Pérez.

The new CAT is situated at Calle Juan Carlos I, 20, and will provide support for children aged up to six years old who have disabilities or are at risk of developing them. It has room for 35 service users, meaning that 140 children can be attended monthly, given its outpatient nature.

The facility will be staffed by workers specialised in early care – specifically a team consisting of a director, speech therapist, physiotherapist, two stimulators and a psychologist.

Its primary objective is for children with developmental disorders or at risk of developing them, to receive,

using a model that takes into account biopsychosocial considerations, everything from preventive to care training in order to enhance their capacity for development and well-being, enabling their integration into the family, school and social environment, as well as their personal autonomy.

The association president thanked VegaFibra for their support in getting the project started and recalled that the company has already collaborated with other ADIS initiatives.

She went on to note that the CAT will continue to reduce, in part, ‘the interminable waiting in our area, because the installations are not exclusively for the benefit of residents of the municipality, as its importance and use extend further than the borders of the town’.
