U3A Vall del Pop – Let’s eat and have fun

- By Sally Ellis and Paula Heffron

THE VALL del Pop U3A have been focused on eating and having fun in recent weeks.

First, on Tuesday, April 18 a total of 42 ladies gathered for their monthly lunch. This group has gone from strength to strength in a relatively short time. Where did they all go this time? Well, they visited the restaurant La Solana in Alcalalí. Needless to say, we took over the main interior restaurant, whilst other diners were accommodated on the terraces.

La Solana staff served our drinks, shortly, followed by bread and alioli and tomato salsa, and starters of cheeses and Spanish ham, and a goat's cheese salad with a variety of nuts and fruit - these were all shared platters. The main courses were chosen in advance, from fillet of salmon or dorada, pork in mushroom sauce, and slow roasted lamb. A vegetarian option was also available. They completed their meal with a sweet of fresh fruit and ice cream. It was a delicious meal and great value in a lovely friendly atmosphere.

The U3A ladies, as usual, had plenty to discuss and chat about, and they are all looking forward to their next lunch, which will be on Tuesday, May 16. If you would like to join them please find further information on our website U3avalldelpop.com

Then a few days later, on Saturday, April 22 the U3A Vall del Pop Goodwill team organised a fabulous cheese, wine and live music evening at the Polivalent in Murla.

Huge platters of a variety of cheese, sausage rolls, quiche, salads, homemade chutneys, olives, grapes, crackers and bread were accompanied by wines and soft drinks and a fabulous feast was enjoyed by all. Certainly no one went hungry!

'The Good Friends', Pauline, Roger and Carrie, kindly entertained us with some great live music, and there was lots of singing along to well-known songs. Everyone loved their relaxed music, which created a lovely atmosphere to enjoy good food and company. Thank you so much for supporting the Goodwill team.

Our own DJ, Paul J, also provided some great dancing music and it was lovely to see so many people on the dance floor.

The Goodwill team have lots of exciting events planned for the coming months so please keep an eye on our website and Facebook.
