Drug dens shut thanks to resident’s tip-off
Detectives were able to locate supply operations in three different municipalities
A TIP-OFF from a member of the public has enabled Guardia Civil to shut down three places where drugs were being sold around Alicante province – in El Campello, Santa Pola and Alicante city.
Officers arrested a total of nine suspects and seized various quantities of methamphetamine, ecstasy, cocaine and hashish, according to a spokesman for the force.
The information that drugs were being sold from an address near to two schools in El Campello was investigated by Guardia Civil based in San Vicente del Raspeig, who set up surveillance in the area.
This enabled them to locate the property in question, where two siblings, a man and a woman were alternately selling to users, the spokesman alleged.
The suspects were acquiring the drugs from a residence in Santa Pola and then taking them to a home in Alicante’s Villafranqueza neighbourhood to be processed and prepared for sale.
The prime suspect was intercepted in February, while he was driving in El Campello
with methamphetamine, socalled ‘pink cocaine’ and hashish in the car, as well as a significant sum of cash.
A search of his home found more material related to drug dealing and his sister was arrested there too.
Having analysed the documents seized during the search, officers searched the two residences in Santa Pola and Villafranqueza.
These operations arrested
npeodple, seven more four men and three women, on suspicion of public health offences for drug dealing. An Alicante court has remanded two of the suspects in custody.
The operation seized a total of 1,600 grams of methamphetamine, 470 ecstasy pills, 145g of cocaine and 580g of hashish, as well as a motor vehicle and €7,580 in cash.
