Toll road strike threat
Union calls for toll booth staff industrial action over Easter period
A UNION has called for toll booth staff to strike during the Easter holidays, which, if it goes ahead, could cause chaos and huge traffic jams on the AP-7 motorway.
The UGT, who represent the staff working for the motorway owners, Abertis, have demanded better working conditions and increased pay. Des- pite numerous mediation meetings, a resolution has still not been agreed.
The proposed strikes, between 28 March and 2 April, will mean toll booths will be unmanned for most of the day, between 11:00 and 17:00, and from 22:00 to 01:00. During this time, if a vehicle suffers a problem at the booth, it means it will become trapped and unable to leave the motorway.
