Not so plain sailing!
GUARDIA Civil officers in Altea have arrested a 46-yearold Spaniard for the theft of €400,000 worth of goods.
But it was no ordinary property that was ransacked – instead it was from a 22-metre yacht docked in Altea that had been sealed by a court order in November.
The vessel was subject to foreclosure and subsequently bought by a company for €1.5 million.
When a representative of the new owner went to the marina to check on the acquisition, it was discovered that the entire interior had been stripped, including the navigation system.
A detailed investigation ensued which led officers to a nearby lockup, where a person known to the original owner had rented three units and stashed the stolen items.
