SAN Fulgencio town hall has given three defibrillators to help the local police and Protección Civil in case of emergency.

The presentations were made by mayor José Sampere, who is also responsible for public security, and councillor for health David Vives.

The local police will have two of these kits to carry in their patrol cars, along with complete medical kits, explained Sr Vives.

The other will be at the disposition of the municipal Protección Civil service, and was handed over at a recent ceremony to welcome new volunteers and appoint the new assistant head of the group, Sanne Wolff.

The defibrillators are portable, semi-automatic models which are more manageable and easier to use, and they cost a total of €4,950, noted Sr Vives.

The mayor also explained that, ‘due to the emergency situation resulting from the pandemic’, this summer the local police will ‘step up their efforts to prevent gatherings of people, taking the necessary precautionary measures to avoid possible outbreaks of this disease’.

Officers will also perform road safety duties, including checkpoints for alcohol and drugs in various places around the municipality, ‘so that residents and visitors can enjoy the summer with all the necessary tranquillity and safety’, added Sr Sampere.
