Beach sex attack arrests

-

Two men suspected to have sexually assaulted a young woman on a beach in Alicante city have been arrested in Jumilla (Murcia), reported the National Police.

The victim told officers investigating the violent crime that she had been taken to Alicante from Jumilla to go out for drinks with two men who she knew from seeing them around the area.

She said that in the early hours of the morning they took her to a beach without her consent, sexually assaulted her and abandoned her.

She called for help from a young man passing by, who called the police and a patrol came to help her. Following the protocol for sexual offences, once she had been taken to hospital for treatment and had filed a formal accusation, the officers started trying to trace her assailants. They identified two residents of Jumilla and set up an operation to catch them with help from the local police canine unit. Both suspects were soon found and detained, then put before a court in the municipality which charged and released them until their trial.
