Rojales makes life less taxing
Residents and businesses in Rojales can keep up with their tax obligations more easily thanks to the town hall’s appointment of a national government-authorised treasurer.
The local treasury department is undergoing reorganisation to improve control over payments of public fees, detect non-payment and modernise and speed up its service to the public, explained its councillor Fernando Suria.
He said they had noticed that some businesses and individuals had not paid for private usage of public areas.
The improvements have included the arrival of the new treasurer in June, implementation of a new computer program for the tax section, and opening negotiations with provincial tax collection agency SUMA to determine whether it could take over management of other charges.
This will benefit the town hall and therefore all residents as well by enabling ‘more efficient control over public income’, he said.
