TINSELTOWN came to the Costa Blanca to film key scenes of the new adventure film ‘ Uncharted’ starring British actor Tom Holland – bestknown for his colourful costume capers as comicbook hero Spiderman.

The action adventure – which is scheduled for release in the summer of next year – is a prequel to a series of video games and is from the giant Sony Pictures stable.

The movie features Holland as fortune hunter Nathan Drake, who claims to be a descendant of buccaneering legend Sir Francis Drake, aided and abetted by fellow adventurer and father figure Victor Sullivan, played by Mark Wahlberg.

Other key roles are taken by Spanish actor Antonio Banderas, together with Sophia Taylor Ali and Tati Gabrielle.

Directed by Ruben Fleisher, initial filming was based in Berlin studios and on location in Germany before the cast and crew moved to Spain and the iconic coastline of Jávea.

The cameras rolled over seven days and drew an inquisitive audience hoping to catch a glimpse of the stars.

A trailer village sprang up on vacant town hall land near the river Gorgos – called ‘ base camp’. While a section of Jávea’s harbour was screened off for ‘ tech camp’, much of the equipment needed to be ferried by boat.

The perimeters of both areas were patrolled by security guards and entry only permitted for accredited staff and all visitors were checked for Covid19 at the gates.

Locations included some of the more isolated coves of

Jávea; the Arenal – a copse of ‘ storm hit’ palm trees especially planted close to the water’s edge on the sand; and also on the rocky beach of Montañar, utilising a sealed off area over 24 hours.

A fleet of black SUVs, all with blacked out windows, scurried around the streets of the town while the cafes and bars were filled with people gossiping about where the stars had visited during their stay to enjoy a little down time.

The web of secrecy was lifted by Holland who thrilled fans by approaching them between takes on set – Covid meant he could not shake hands, hug or ‘ high five’; or even take custody a mobile for a ‘ selfie’.

Instead the Spiderman star took his own pictures and posted them on his Instagram site to share with the public.

He also left the message: “Thank you to all the lovely fans who came to the set today. Sorry we couldn’t take any pictures on your phones, so here are some of mine.”
