Fighting the flu

More than 277,000 doses of flu vaccine have been administer­ed in the Valencia region since the campaign started on October 5 up to yesterday ( Thursday). Of these, 97,278 were in Alicante province, 147,249 in Valencia and 32,574 in Castellón. A total of 26,940 health and social workers have been vaccinated, which is over 38% of this collective, and 193,039 people over the age of 64, which is 19.64% of this risk group. The largest share of the doses ( 48.74%) has been for people with cardiovasc­ular and respirator­y conditions. Other risk groups include those with chronic renal conditions, immunodefi­ciency, diabetes or morbid obesity, pregnant women and essential workers, who also include the other emergency services. The target is to reach 75% of over 75s and medical workers, and 60% of other risk groups. The campaign will continue until January 31 and a total of 1,256,100 doses are set to be distribute­d. Appointmen­ts have been given by phone to 416,715 patients in risk groups, and 18,253 have been made through the health service app GVA+ Salut.
