Improvements for Arenales
ARENALES del Sol is the latest district of Elche to benefit from improvement and modernisation works on its public spaces.
City hall announced that it will receive between € 200,000 and € 250,000 of the total fund for its districts of € 1 million.
Mayor Carlos González explained that the work basically consists of replacing pavements, repairing tree planters and renovating ramps for people with reduced mobility in order to comply with accessibility regulations.
The total area being covered spans up to 12,000 square metres, mostly around Avenida Costa Blanca and San Bartolomé de Tirajana, but also a few other specific locations.
These were chosen on the basis of requests from residents and the district mayor, he said.
The council has already carried out similar works in Las Bayas for € 70,000 and is still completing € 50,000 of improvements in La Hoya.
A separate contract worth
€ 5 million to improve country lanes, and streets in the city centre has already been awarded.
Furthermore, construction of a new drinking water deposit in Arenales is also underway with a budget of over € 1 million.
