Vandals hunted

Vandals defaced public benches with homophobic slogans in Pilar de la Horadada after they had been repainted in rainbow colours by the council to mark LGTBI Pride day.

The local police emphasised that the municipality ‘ has always been against any kind of discrimination’ and said officers are working to find those responsible.

The town hall equality department noted that repainting the benches had been part of its ‘ simply… love’ campaign to help people from this collective feel accepted by society.

“We will keep working to eradicate this kind of violent conduct and to build a society that is more tolerant of diversity,” said a spokesperson. “We are for free love and equal opportunities between men and women."
