Fee scrapped to lure firms to Calpe
CALPE town hall has offered entrepreneurs an opportunity to flourish by scrapping the business ‘ activity’ licence fee for 2021.
This week’s full council meeting unanimously voted in favour of shelving the tax next year for people opening a business or changing their core activity.
A spokesman for the town hall explained it was ‘ another measure’ taken by councillors ‘ in order to alleviate the economic losses the Calpe business sector is suffering as a result of the Covid19 pandemic’. The move is an additional boost to the ‘ Resistance Plan’ steps already in place to aid local commerce.
Mayor Ana Sala said: “It is about removing the activity licence fee to continue helping companies, especially hotels, businesses, entrepreneurs in general who are trying to establish themselves in the municipality.”
She said the town hall collected € 62,000 from the tax during 2019 but it was being suspended next year.
