Elche allows pub terraces to reopen
Establishments with pub or cocktail bar ( bar de copas) licences in Elche have been authorised by the council to open their outdoor terrace areas.
The local government committee decided this would be allowed between midday and 01.00, explained council spokesman Héctor Díez. The interiors of these premises can only be used by customers to access the toilets, he noted.
“This is a positive measure that will enable some establishments that have been affected by Covid to generate income after being closed for weeks,” he said.
The councillor added that discotheques will have to remain closed unless they have a terrace licence. Other measures introduced by city hall to support the hostelry sector have included the Reactiva’t Elx aid programme and waiving fees for terraces in the streets.
