Autumn with Hernández
THE ANNUAL celebration of the birth of the poet Miguel Hernández is taking place in Orihuela until November 30.
At the presentation of Otoño Hernandiano ( Hernández autumn), councillor for culture Mar Ezcurra said the celebration features 30 activities that have been adapted to meet the sanitary protocols necessary to combat Covid19.
The activities include music, exhibitions, cultural tours, book presentations, conferences, poetry recitals, poetry encounters, and family workshops.
The celebrations got underway on October 1 with the inauguration of the exhibition Adolfo Lizón, un escritor oriolano polifacético ( Adolfo Lizón, a multifaceted Orihuela writer).
The exhibition is taking place at Pedrera foundation’s Sorzano de Tejada museum until November 30 and contains a collection of personal articles, portraits, literary works, and writings by writer, journalist and Orihuelaborn teacher Adolfo Lizón Gadea, who maintained a close relationship with Miguel Hernández’s circle of friends.
Although Lizón barely knew Hernández because of the age difference, he always professed immense poetic admiration for him.
Another exhibition, Dos miradas sobre Aleixandre: Joaquín Alcón y José Lamarca ( two views of Aleixandre: Joaquín Alcón and José Lamarca) at the exhibition space next to the Miguel Hernández house museum, looks at the Nobel prizeMar winning poet, Vicente Aleixandre and his relationship with Hernández, whom he supported in life and his family following his death. The exhibition is the result of collaboration between Orihuela town hall and friends of Vicente Aleixandre association.
Other events include a conference entitled Miguel Hernández, vigencia de los valores poéticos y humanos ( Miguel Hernández, validity of poetic and human values), hosted by the writer and journalist Paco Escudero on October 23, a poetry recital and concert by Fraskito at La Lonja on November 13. La Lonja will also host a concert by the singer, songwriter Isamil9 on October 30, and the Miguel Hernández international poetry prize presentation on November 21.
Every Saturday in October at 11.00 there will be a guided cultural tour that visits places related to the life and work of the poet.
