The future of the third industrial estate depends on the new wastewater treatment plant
The decision not to evaluate the environmental impact of the third industrial estate project in Inca by the Balearic Environmental Commission comes with certain conditions. They believe that if specific corrective measures are implemented, the project will not have significant adverse effects on the environment. Instead, they've tied project approval to the operation of the expanded Inca wastewater treatment plant and the submission of documentation proving water supply availability to Water Resources.
The City Council expresses confidence in meeting these requirements. Mayor Virgilio Moreno highlights that the Compensation Board has already submitted the urbanization and subdivision project of Sector 1 to the Council, earmarked for the future technological and service estate.
Regarding the expansion of the wastewater treatment plant, the City Council has acquired adjacent plots and secured approval for a £14 million expansion project from Abaqua, the water management company.
Soil testing has commenced, indicating imminent construction initiation. Additionally, scheduled meetings with Abaqua aim to ensure oversight and progress updates.
On the water supply front, infrastructural enhancements have been made, including the installation of a new pipeline in Son Fiol, linking to Inca's drinking water network. These measures aim to ensure adequate water supply for the industrial estate's needs.
Mayor Moreno asserts that the project is progressing as planned, anticipating construction commencement within two years. Cooperation between the City Council and the Compensation Board is emphasized to ensure smooth progress.
The third industrial estate in Inca will span 278,613 square meters, dedicated to technological and service uses, within a total area of 368,020 square meters. Positioned between the highway entrance and the Sallista field, its development holds significant potential for economic growth and industrial expansion in the region.
With careful coordination and adherence to environmental and infrastructural prerequisites, the project aims to foster sustainable development while meeting the growing demands of Inca's industrial sector.
