Repatriate­d prisoners arrive in Pakistan

Twenty Pakistanis, who were found guilty of smuggling illegal drugs to Sri Lanka and were serving their life terms in jails there, have arrived in Pakistan. These include two women. The prisoners will complete their terms in different jails in Pakistan.

The convicts have been shifted to Pakistan under an agreement of transfer of prisoners between the two countries. The Pakistan High Commission in Sri Lanka paid their travelling expenses. The FIA authoritie­s have handed over two prisoners to the Karachi Central Jail.

According to sources, the prisoners from Sri Lanka include Muhammad Afzal Nadeem, Muhammad Suhail, Shah Hussain, Syed Rizwan Ahmed, Nadeem Anwer, Niaz Ali, Parwaiz Mashih, Abid Yaqob Masih, Sameen Jan, Tahir Khan, Nadeem Ali, Rana Muhammad Ilyas, Roshan Ilyas, Sikandar Ali, Muhammad Zaheer, Fareed Khan, Muhammad Yaseen, Muhammad Younus, Samina Abdurahim and Fouzia Sultana.

The sources revealed that the prisoners hailed from different areas of Pakistan including Karachi, Khyber agency, Mardan, Gujranwal, Peshawar, Khairpur Mirs and Lahore. The sources revealed that the families of these prisoners could apply to courts to shift the prisoners to their respective cities otherwise they would complete their terms in Karachi Central Jail.
