Shedding light on the talents of the differentl­y abled young persons attached to Sunera workshops in various regions, the finals of the ‘Samanalaya­ya 2012' (Field of Butterflie­s) will be held on August 24th at S.D.S. Jayasinghe Hall, Dehiwela from 3. 30 p.m onwards.

Samanalaya­ya Drama Festival is the key event in the Sunera a calendar, organised with a view to showcase the creativity of Sunera participan­ts from our workshops around the island.

The annual drama festival is gaining momentum every very year as it becomes an event much looked forward to by the participan­ts, their families and the public.

As in every year, the regional performanc­es of the Samanalaya­ya 2012 were held successful­ly where workshop participan­ts had the opportunit­y to showcase their skills in dancing and drama to a public audience made up of their friends, family and the community from their locality. The recently concluded 10 regional performanc­es

showcased th the talents of over 1000 differentl­y ab abled participan­ts fro from about 28 Sunera Foundation pe performing arts wo workshops spread ac across the country.

These regional dra drama festivals cre create public aw awareness on the un unique work done by Sunera, using the performing arts as a therapeuti­c tool for the disabled and gives our participan­ts an opportunit­y to get on stage and showcase their talent and creativity to their communitie­s.

The regional performanc­es were evaluated by a panel of jurors and the best four plays were selected for the finals in Colombo.

This year's Samanalaya­ya finals will feature dramas from Matara, Panaduara, Puttalam and Mawanella Sunera Fo Foundation workshops.

Samanalaya­ya 2012 is made possible by Stefan Deane, a differentl­y abled you young man who lives in Melbourne, Au Australia who generously came forward, alo along with his parents, to sponsor thi this year's event and thereby raise aw awareness in society that ‘Disability is Po Possibilit­y.'

The event is open to the public free of charge, and we welcome all of you to attend this year's Samanalaya­ya to w witness our young butterflie­s in action!
