NSB appoints new Chairman

Sunil S. Sirisena has been appointed as the new Chairman of National Savings Bank (NSB) with effect from August 13, 2012.

He is a senior officer in the Sri Lanka Administra­tive Service and prior to this, he served as the Secretary to the Ministries of Education, Co-operatives and Internal Trade and Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare.

Sirisena obtained his first Degree in Economics (Special) with Honours from the University of Peradeniya and the PostGradua­te Diploma in Statistics from the University of Colombo.

In addition, he had been conferred with the Diploma in Management for Profession­als from the Sri Lanka Institute of Developmen­t Administra­tion (SLIDA).

As a senior officer in the Sri Lanka Administra­tive Service, he is equipped with more than 36 years of experience in the field of management.

In addition, he has served as Chairman of the National Film Corporatio­n and an Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Defence.

Sunil S. Sirisena is an old boy of Dharmaraja College, Kandy.

The duty assuming ceremony took place at the NSB Head Office, Kollupitiy­a and Lionel P. Fernando, Sumith Wijesinghe and Priyantha Jayawardha­na, members of the newly appointed director board and the senior management of NSB were present on the occasion.
