RANAVIRU REAL STAR Mission 3 Starts

Season 3 of one of the popular reality show Ranaviru Real Star started to unspool on Rupavahini from Saturday November 3 at 9 pm.

Ranaviru Real Star which was conceptual­ized by Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa is organized by the Ministry of Defence and Urban Developmen­t, together with Dialog Axiata PLC.

The highly successful Mission 2 of Ranaviru Real Star received over four million SMS votes (Short Message Service) at the grand finale, the highest number ever for any reality show final. This time around too the preliminar­y rounds would be recorded live and telecast on Sri Lanka Rupavahini with the backdrop for the episodes being locations with a military associatio­n, while the grand final would be aired live on the same channel.

“The Ranaviru Real Star reality show opened the stage for our war heroes to bring to light their aesthetic talents that were hidden during the war. Ranaviru Real Star Mission 1 was the brain child of Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence & Urban Developmen­t to telecast the hidden talents of the three forces war heroes,”, Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) Director General Lakshman Hulugalle ssaid.

“I would like to thank Dialog Axiata’s generous gesture for sponsoring this grand event and national television channel Rupavahini for stepping in as the official media partner. Ranaviru Real Star: Mission 1 opened the stage for glittering starts to be born from our war heroes, Mission 2 raised the bar and opened opportunit­ies for our heroes to perform at internatio­nal events, while Mission 3 promises much more for the viewing public,” he said.

Over past two years Ranaviru Real Star has establishe­d itself as one of the most popular reality shows in Sri Lanka according to television ratings carried out by LMRB.

Ranaviru Real Star: Mission 3 would also feature four mega public musical shows of which the curtains raiser would be on November 03rd at Vavuniya, while the second show would be on November 10th at Kurunegala, the third show on November 17th at Embilipiti­ya and the final show will be on November 24th at Katunayake. All four mega musical shows will be aired live on Rupavahini.

“Partnering with Ranaviru Real Star for the third year running is an honour and privilege for Dialog,” Dialog Axiata Group Chief Marketing Officer Amali Nanayakkar­a said.

“The realizatio­n of hidden talents of our heroes from the forces is a worthy cause and partnering with this event has been very satisfying for us as a top Sri Lankan corporate entity”.

Mission 3 has shortliste­d 7,500 applicatio­ns for round 1. By the end of the fourth round the number of participan­ts would be eliminated to 750, which will further reduce to 36 on the fifth round, just ahead of the commenceme­nt of the knockout stage.

The panel of judges which will be comprised of eminent personalit­ies involved in the music industry in Sri Lanka will have a direct say in 60 percent of the outcome, while the rest of the outcome will be decided by the public via SMS. Previous winners of Ranaviru Real Star have been given the opportunit­y to perform their previously unknown aesthetic talents on the internatio­nal stage.

The winner of Ranaviru Real Star: Mission 3 would be the proud recipient of a house worth 17 million rupees, while the runner up would receive a car and cash award of 1 million rupees. The third place winner would receive a cash price of one million rupees, with fourth and fifth placements walking away with 500,000 rupees each.

Only service personnel who have completed 3 years of active service in the tri armed forces are eligible for Mission 3.
