HELPAGE VESAK CARDS TO HELP NEEDY SENIOR CITIZENS

Help Age Sri Lanka (HASL) has printed more 100,000 greeting cards for the Vesak season. The proceeds will be utilized to perform free cataract surgeries and mobile medical camps for underprivi­leged Senior Citizens in the country The greeting cards are adorned with 11 colourful graphic designs and depict the important events of Lord Buddha’s Birth to Parinibban­a.

HASL, Fund raising Manager Ruchilalan­i Batuwantud­awa said the cards were printed on high quality Linen Boards and they are priced at Rs.30 each. She said those who purchase more than 3,000 cards would be offered attractive discounts. Institutio­ns that purchase more than 150 cards could have their official logo printed on the cards free of charge.

HASL Executive Director Samantha Liyanawadu­ge said a majority of senior citizens were not in a financial position to opt for cataract surgery and proceeds from the sales would be utilized to conduct surgeries free of charge for needy citizens who are over 55 years with latest Foldable Intraocula­rLenses(IOL’s) attheirEye­Care Hospital,No:14,SinsapaRoa­d,Wellawatta, Colombo 6.
