The Kandy Mayor Mahendra Ratwatte had declared that the pavement around the Kandy Lake will be out of bounds for all State institutions - the Army, Police or PCs to set up special seating accommodation, during the 2015 Kandy Esala Perahera festival. This fact was revealed during a discussion held yesterday at the Kandy Sri Dalada Maligawa meeting hall.

The Mayor also said that the general public who visit Kandy to watch the Perahera should not be inconvenienced and afforded all facilities in order to make this effort a success. He had also obtained the fullest support of the Kandy GA, M. M. Hitisekera.

The Diyawadana Nilame of the Dalada Maligawa Pradeep Nilanga Dela said at the discussion that the Maha Maluwa of the Sri Dalada Maligawa would be kept open this time for the benefit of the public who come to watch the Perahera.
