SJC Nugegoda trounce OLV

St. Joseph’s Convent, Nugegoda trounced Our Lady of Victories, Moratuwa by 60 points to 12 in an girls under 17 All Island ‘A’ division basketball match at the BSC court on Saturday.

At half time, St. Joseph’s had a clear cut 37 points to 12 lead.

Onesha Tharukshi led the way for SJC with 18 points, followed by Chalani Perera 12 and Nethmi Kavindi 7. For OLV the best scorer was Sashini Weerasuriy­a with six points.

- B.M. HFC DOWN BRITISH SCHOOL 51 TO 16

Holy Family Convent, Bambalapit­iya downed British School by a comfortabl­e 51 points to 16 at the latter’s courts in their under 17 All Island ‘A’ division cager match on Saturday.

At half time the winners were well ahead with 25 points to their opponent’s 3. Manthila Gallasege with 19 points and Sandrine David 9 were on target for Holy Family.

For British School Crystal Kuthoor played a lone hand with 8 points.

- B.M. SJC, NUGEGODA POST ANOTHERWIN

St. Joseph’s Convent, Nugegoda posted their second win on Saturday when they defeated Hillwood College, Kandy by 46 points to 27 in an under 17 All Island ‘A’ division cager fixture at the British School Court. At half time SJC held 30 to 15 point lead. H.K.Thisari 11 points and Tasheena Ureshi 9 played best for the Josephians. For Hillwood College Pabashi Machchagam­a with 13 points was the best shooter.

- B.M. BRITISH SCHOOL TURN TABLES ON OLV

After conceding a five point lead at half time, British School, came back in the second session to turn tables on Our Lady of Victories, Moratuwa and post a 65 to 46 point win in their under 17 All Island ‘A’ division cager fixture on Saturday. At half time OLV had a 25 to 20 point lead. Mihara Ramanayake with 27 points was in excellent shooting form for British School, while Crystal Kuthoor was also on target with 15.

For OLV the best shooters were Mishma Peiris with 13 and Sashini Weerasuriy­a 11 points.
