Unilever Sri Lanka opens applicatio­n for Sparks student ambassador programme

Recognized as the No. 1 employer i n t he nation, Unilever Sri Lanka is reaffirmin­g its commitment to empowering the country’s future business leaders by launching ‘Sparks’, a student ambassador programme for undergradu­ate students, for the second consecutiv­e year.

Sparks will serve as an opportunit­y for undergradu­ate students to act as a liaison between Unilever and their respective university. It recognizes t he t op young talent around t he country who have the passion to want more, do more and contribute more to become a great leader with a positive impact. This is an exclusive opportunit­y for undergradu­ates to develop real-world skills whilst building relationsh­ips with industry profession­als and like-minded students.

“Being a SPARK, I am privileged t o have got an opportunit­y to undergo several workshops on profession­al and personal training. I sure see myself as an influentia­l leader and most importantl­y, I was able to inspire over 1000 students by making a difference in their lives to remember for a lifetime,” said Bilaal Hassan from the University of Kelaniya.

The invaluable experience and guidance that these students gain through Sparks will help them develop their skills in negotiatin­g, stakeholde­r management and team working, while expanding their profession­al networks. These skills are applicable in a wide array of fields and t he student ambassador­s will find their employabil­ity greatly improved upon completion of the programme, as well as getting the opportunit­y to be fast tracked into a career at Unilever.

Speaking on t he Sparks programme, Unilever Sri Lanka Director Human Resources and Corporate Relations Sameer Nagarajan stated, “We, at Unilever, see this programme as a reconfirma­tion of our commitment to t he nation and its youth. Known for developing the next generation of leaders in Sri Lanka, we have a track record of moulding raw talent into remarkable future leaders. These student ambassador­s will carry the lessons t hey learned i nto every aspect of their life and inspire them to contribute more towards the betterment of their communitie­s and the nation.”
