CSE closes early with green indices

The price gains in counters such as Sri Lanka Telecom, CT Holdings and Lion Brewery resulted in i ndices to close i n green. Turnover crossed Rs 1.1 Bn despite the lack of foreign participat­ion in the market. High net worth and institutio­nal investor participat­ion was witnessed in Hatton National Bank. Mixed interest was observed in Bairaha Farms, Ceylon Grain Elevators and ACL Cables whilst retail interest was noted in Vallibel Power Erathna. Foreigners closed as net buyers with a thin margin.

Manufactur­ing sector was the top contributo­r to the market turnover (due to Ceylon Grain Elevators and ACL Cables) whilst the sector index gained 0.76%. The share price of Ceylon Grain Elevators gained Rs 3.80 (5.23%) to close at Rs 76.50. The share price of ACL Cables appreciate­d by Rs 8.90 (7.87%) to close at Rs 122.00.

Banks, Finance and Insurance sector was the second highest contributo­r to the market turnover (due to Hatton National Bank) whilst the sector index increased by 0.31%. The share price of Hatton National Bank moved up by Rs 2.50 (1.11%) to close at Rs 227.50.

Bairaha Farms and Lanka IOC were also included amongst the top turnover contributo­rs. The share price of Bairaha Farms increased by Rs 22.70 (13.73%) to close at Rs 188.00. The share price of Lanka IOC recorded a loss of Rs 0.20 (0.49%) to close at Rs 41.00.

CSE closed for trading at 12 noon today, due to General elections.
