TTSC sixes postponed

Due to the unpredicta­ble weather pattern, the 38th Travel Trade Sports Club Men’s and Women’s Softball Cricket Sixes 2015, scheduled to be held on Sunday, October 4 at the Shalika and D.S. Senanayake College Grounds was postponed to end in November 2015 at the same venues.

37 Men’s teams and 6 women’s teams faced the draw, held on September 29 at the Aitken Spence Travels Board Room, Vauxhall Towers, Colombo 2.

The tournament is revived after a lapse of one year (last held in 2013), where Chaaya Tranz, Hikkaduwa, won the Men’s event and Amaya Lake, Dambulla won the Women’s event.

The 37 Mens teams, pooled into 12 groups will play in 02 stages, consisting 54 matches including the final. The groupings are as follows: AT SHALIKA GROUNDS

Group “A”: Chaaya Tranz, Hikkaduwa (2013 Winner), Club Bentota & Kalu’s Hideaway, Udawalawe.

Group “B” : Mermaid Hotel,

Waskaduwa, Waters Edge & Viluxur Holidays

Group “C” : The Kingsbury Hotel, Cinnamon Bay, Beruwala & Indo Sky Aviation

Group “D” : Avani Bentota, Aitken Spence Travels “B” & Heritance Ayurveda Mahagedera

Group “E” : Aitken Spence Travels “A”, FTS Island Holidays & Walkers / Whittalls “A”

Group “F” : Bejaya Mount Royal, Jetwing Blue, Negombo & Cinnamon Red “A” At D.S. Senanayake College grounds

Group “G” : Royal Palms, Kalutara, Ramada Colombo & Cinnamon Red “B”

Group “H” : Cinnamon Lakeside, Amja Travels & Jetwing Sea, Negombo

Group “I” : Bentota Beach by Cinnamon, Reefs Edge Hotel & Amaya Lake, Dambulla.

Group “J” : N-Kar Travels, Citrus Waskaduwa & Mt. Lavinia Hotel.

Group “K” : Cinnamon Wild, Yala, Avani Kalutara & Walkers/Whittalls “B”

Group “L” : Tangerine Beach Hotel, Kalutara (2013 runners-up), Mackinnons Amarican Express Travels, Diethelm Travels & Exotic Holidays Internatio­nal.

The 6 Womens teams, pooled into 02 groups will play in 02 stages, consisting 9 matches including the Final.

Group “A” – Amaya Lake, Dambulla (2013 winner), Aitken Spence Travels & Walkers / Whittalls

Group “B” – Waters Edge, Royal Palms, Kalutara & Cinnamon Red.

The Special Awards on offer for both tournament­s are: Best Batter, Best Bowler, Player of the Final and Player of the Tournament.

The Official Sponsorshi­p handing over ceremony and the draw for groupings was held on Tuesday, September 29 at 4.30 p.m at the Aitken Spence Travels Board Room, Vauxhall Towers, Colombo 2.

The Officials present at the above event were Tikiri Ellepola, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Anil Hapugoda, Asst. Vice President & Lalin Sumanasing­he , General Manager – all from Aitken Spence Travels, Palitha Mendis, General Secretary and Tyrone Perera, Sports Events Co-Ordinator – both from TTSC.
