Sachintha adjudged best all-rounder

Former Maliyadeva College Kurunegala cricketer Sachintha Pieris was adjudged best all rounder runnerup during the 2014-15 all island inter school under 19 division I Cricket tournament after scoring 787 runs and also capturing 87 wickets during the season. He continued his good form for NCC at the 2015-16 under 23 inter club Cricket tournament which concluded recently.

He began his cricketing career at the age of 13 at Maliyadeva and made 326 runs captured 31 wickets during the first season. He led the college under 13 ‘B’team and was also adjudged best player in that age group.In 2009, he made 471 runs during the all island under 15 division III Cricket tournament and was picked as the player of the match in the final.He also picked up 36 wickets with his right arm off spin during that tournament and also awarded best all rounders prize at the college colours night. He was selected to Coca Cola Cricket pathway and also under 17 spinners pool after scoring 421 runs and taking 17 wickets during the under 17 tournament in 2011. During the 2014-15 inter school Cricket tournament he scored 787 runs from 17 matches with 88 as his highest score .

He hit four fifties during the season and captured 87 wickets with eight five wicket hauls including 6 for 9 against Mahinda College Galle as his best. He was placed fifth in the final bowling averages.. Pieris was adjudged best all rounder runnerup during the season. He led most valuable players list by gaining 208 points, way ahead of others.

He made his debut for Nondescrip­t Cricket Club against Tamil Union in an inter club under 23 tournament encounter this season and continued his good form as an all rounder for his club.. Sachintha, a good all rounder in the making
