Mercantile Super League: BRANDIX INTIMATE AND MAS CASUALLINE WIN

Brandix IntimateAp­parel, Minuwangod­a coasted to a comfortabl­e 3-1 win over MAS Linear Aqua, Kapugoda to win the men’s Super League title while MAS Casualline beat Brandix Intimate Apparel, Minuwangod­a 3-1 to clinch the women’s Super League title at the Mercantile Volleyball Championsh­ips concluded at the Youth Services Council courts during the weekend.

In a closely-contested men’s final, Brandix won the first set 25-23 but MAS Linear came back strongly in the second set to level, winning it 23-14. Brandix won the third and fourth sets after a close finish (27-25 and 25-19) to win the title. Having clinched the first two sets comfortabl­y (25-22 and 25-15), the girls from MAS Casualline were all set to go for the kill in the third set but Brandix Intimate powered their way to a 25-16 win in the third set, leaving the final wide open with two sets to go. However, MAS Casual regrouped in the fourth set and won it 25-20 to grab the women’s title in style.

Voge Tex won the men’s and women’s A division title. VTA Holding was the winner of the men’s Championsh­ip and women’s championsh­ips was won by MAS Casualline, Mawathagam­a.

Ranga Fernando(Brandix Intimate Apparel) was adjudged the Most Valuable Player and Best Player of the Super League men’s tournament. Chaaya Sanjeewani MAS Casualline - Mawathagam­a was awarded the best female player.
