‘Sri Lanka Economic Forum 2016’ to be held on Jan.7-8 with Soros, Stiglitz and many other top speakers
‘Sri Lanka Economic Forum 2016,’ a forum organized in Colombo under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is to take place with the likes of international investor and founder and Chairman of Open Society George Soros and Nobel Laureate economist Joseph Stieglitz in attendance, a media statement by the organizers said.
The event, themed ‘Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s 2023 agenda for economic prosperity’ aimed at steering Sri Lanka towards sustainable and inclusive development, is to be held on January 07th and 08th at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel.
To be presented at the event was an initial growth prognosis carried out by the Harvard University’s Centre for International Development on Sri Lankan, which has identified four key areas they believe are important to support sustained and inclusive longterm economic growth for Sri Lanka.
According to the event’s website, these areas are; macroeconomic and fiscal stability, structural transformation and competitiveness, urbanization and development and regional development and social inclusion.
The forum is structured around these key areas of risk and opportunity with several international respected thought leaders are invited to share their perspectives with the Sri Lankan government.
Apart from Soros and Stiglitz other speakers at the event are; Ricardo Hausman, Professor of the Practice of Economic Development, Harvard Kennedy School Director, Centre for International Development,
