Edirisinghe Brothers opens Hybrid Hub in Colombo

-

Edirisinghe Brothers (Pvt.) Ltd (EBL) opened a ‘Hybrid Hub’ in Colombo recently, which is known to be the first and only purpose-built facility for hybrid and electrical vehicles in Sri Lanka.

It provides facilities such as testing, conditioning and rebuilding of batteries for hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), providing technical authority, specialised diagnostic tools and safety procedures.

“We are the only authorised technology in Sri Lanka to test, diagnose and service the critical components that make up the hybrid electric system, including the high voltage battery, electric motor and the inverter,” EBL Chief Operating Officer Sanka Edirisinghe said.

He said that as Sri Lankan vehicle owners are shifting towards HEVS, to cater to that need they provide the required infrastructure, specialised maintenance services for this market.

“We are proud to say, Hybrid Hub is the first company in Asia-pacific after Singapore to offer services and the technology,” the company said.

Training and supporting partners for this venture are, Automative Research and Design (AR&D) USA via its franchisor for Asia Pacificgrowth Dynamics (Singapore) and Optima Werkz (Singapore), which would provide automative technical support to Hybrid Hub.

“The battery subsystem is the first to age or fail in an HEV due to various factors like ambient temperatures, drive cycle and age. Proper testing is the only way to determine its true state-of-health in order to effect a proper diagnosis. The proprietary AR&D tools and software allow Hybrid Hub technicians to safely remove the battery from an HEV, isolate the underperforming modules of the battery and, thereafter, revive. All of this uses the most accurate, cutting-edge HEV battery diagnostic equipment in the world,” said Dr. Mark Quarto of AR&D.

“The revolutionary technology at the heart of its operation can only be availed exclusively at Hybrid Hub in Sri Lanka,” he further added.

They also offer state of health (SOH) check service where they give a report to the customers of an overview of their vehicles health in relation to the different sub-systems that work together to make an HEV run.

“This will not end here. We are exploring opportunities along with EBL to set up a premium workshop in Colombo to high-end vehicles such as Audis, BMWS, Land Rovers and so on,” an Optima Werkz official said at the event. Mirror Business learns that with the AR&D technology, it is able to revive the power and energy capacity of weak hybrid batteries up to 92 percent.

Hybrid Hub’s current service capacity accommodates HEVS, but is expected to cater to electrical vehicles (EVS) in the coming months.ebl, established in 1947, is an automotive engineering service workshop which enjoys a reputation for engine rebuilding.
