Jlanka powers Megapolis awareness seminar

The third in a series of seminars powered by Jlanka Technologi­es to create awareness of the Western Region Developmen­t Plan will be focusing on small and medium-scale enterprise­s (SMES).

The seminar is scheduled to be held on August 4, 2016, 5:30 p.m. onwards at Hotel Taj Samudra, Colombo.

The Western Region Megapolis Plan is an extensive project that ensures sustainabl­e developmen­t of Sri Lanka’s commercial hub and the extended western region. This series of seminars was launched to engage various sectors driving the economic developmen­t of the country, giving them a better understand­ing of the Megapolis project and its various aspects. The third seminar is titled ‘Accelerati­ng Energy Efficiency in SMES’.

Most importantl­y, the SME holders and SME sectorrela­ted agencies will have the unique opportunit­y to register officially under the Megapolis project during the seminar, giving them the crucial edge of winning project opportunit­ies as and when they arise.

The seminar itself will cover future plans for the SME sector through the Megapolis developmen­t, possible areas that the SMES can contribute in all ongoing projects of the Megapolis, means of land allocation for SMES from each developmen­t zone dedicated to the sector, especially in the localities of Mirigama and Horana. All those attending will have the chance to voice opinions and share concerns, making this the perfect platform for the SME sector to grow on and contribute as a collective to the economy.

Megapolis and Western Developmen­t Ministry Team Leader and Project Director Lakshman Jayasekera, also former Director General of the National Physical Planning and Developmen­t/urban Developmen­t Authority and President of the Institute of Town Planners, will speak at the event. The SME community will gain an opportunit­y to network with their peers soon after the seminar.
