Chandima to be at next NCC ‘Meet the Minister’ programme

Petroleum Resources Developmen­t Minister Chandima Weerakkody will grace the ‘Meet the Minister’ programme as the guest minister for an interactiv­e session with the business community on Thursday, August 11, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the National Chamber Auditorium, No 450, D R Wijewarden­e Mawatha, Colombo 10.

This programme, launched by the National Chamber of Commerce (NCC) is to assist the members and the business community to get the current situation of the business environmen­t, under the relevant ministry, its future plans, present activities and other related issues pertaining to that sector.

This will be an opportunit­y for the business community to have a close interactio­n with the minister and other officials from the ministry.

The institutio­ns under the ministry are: Petroleum Resources Developmen­t Secretaria­t (PRDS) – the PRDS is responsibl­e for oil exploratio­n in Sri Lanka and could look forward to drilling of oil in the near future, Ceylon Petroleum Corporatio­n (CPC) – CPC is carrying out all the commercial activities related to importing, refining, distributi­ng, retailing of petroleum products, Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited (CPSTL) – CPSTL is responsibl­e for storage and distributi­on of Petroleum products, Polypto Lanka – facilitate­s the conversion of waste plastic into petroleum fuel.

The functions of the Petroleum Industries Ministry are: Responsibl­e for oil exploratio­n in Sri Lanka through the PRDS, carrying out activities to improve the fuel supply to match the demand of the country, facilitati­ng the improvemen­t of the efficiency of the refinery through state-of-the-art technology and facilitati­ng the conversion of waste plastic into petroleum fuel.
