SSC EMERGE TIER ‘A’ CHAMPIONS

SSC emerged Premier League Tier ‘A’ champions when they finished on top of the points table after the completion of the Super Eight Tournament.

SSC and Chilaw Marians CC secured the same number of outright wins of four each but Chilaw Marians suffered two outright defeats and were pushed into the second spot.

SSC, from their four wins secured 88.885 points as against to 84.580 recorded by Chilaw Marians CC and they were followed by NCC, Ragama CC and CCC in third, fourth and fifth place respective­ly.

Meanwhile, Saracens SC with 61.310 points took the top spot in the Plate Championsh­ip with the BRC in second place with 54.100 points and Badureliya SC,

Bloomfiled and Moors SC in third, fourth and fifth place respective­ly.

Sadeera Samarawick­rama of Colts CC came on top in the batting scoring 1,016 runs which included three centuries and six half centuries while Bloomfield Skipper Nipun Karunanaya­ke was the second beat with 926 runs which included three hundreds and four half centuries and NCC Skipper Angelo Perera in third place having accumulate­d 908 runs that included three centuries and five half centuries followed by Shehan Jayasuriya of CCC (853) and Ron Chandragup­ta also of CCC (837).

Left-arm orthodox spinner Malinda Pushpakuma­ra ended the tournament as the top bowler having taken 77 wickets while Bloomfield’s spinner Malith de Silva finished in second with 57 wickets followed by BRC’S Dinuka Hettiarach­chi (52), Ragama CC’S Amila Aponso (51) and Badureliya SC’S Alankara Asanka (51).
