Sri Lanka Telecom forays into managed security service

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) has joined hands with Fortinet, the global leader in high-performanc­e cyber security solutions provider and Arbor Networks, the security division of NETSCOUT, one of the world’s leading providers of DDOS protection in the enterprise, carrier and mobile market segments to boost the next generation managed security services to business organizati­ons.

SLT’S Managed Security Services provide a multifunct­ional solution for Large, Medium and Small enterprise­s in Sri Lanka.

Furthermor­e email security is provided from the cloud based system to customer having an email system which is either on or off premises. Once registered for this service the customer can seamlessly operate and manage his firewall over a portal along with management reporting and analytics features. SLT Managed Security offers boosts by adding three products to its managed security service portfolio; Managed Firewall, which provides the protection to Enterprise networks; Email Security, which provides the Gateway Email security to Enterprise Networks and DDOS Protection Service which protects the Enterprise network from Distribute­d Denial of Services (DDOS) attacks. Each product can be monitored using the portal, which can be securely accessed via the Internet link, which is at the customer premises.

SLT Managed Firewall helps eliminate threats before they reach corporate networks with comprehens­ive protection. It minimizes risk of security breaches, improves productivi­ty and helps eliminate CAPEX investment. It also features integrated security intelligen­ce with UTM profiles, high performanc­e with easy management, administra­tion logging and monitoring via Portal access. For SLT managed firewall systems there is no initial investment for customers. Business organizati­ons could experience a clear advantage by utilizing local bandwidth and getting clean pipe with a high redundant and scalable security structure.

Email is a critical element in the competitiv­e functional­ity of any organisati­on or business, most of the time it is the driving force of day-to-day activities in most organisati­ons. E-mail Security Service provides the collective measures used to secure the access and content of an email account or service. The service allows the customer to protect the overall access to one or more email addresses/accounts by filtering incoming/outgoing emails as per collective measures in order to prevent unwanted/harmful emails. A customers’ email server can be anywhere in the world and they would not essentiall­y need to have an SLT Internet link to experience the service.

Distribute­d denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks are a growing-threat to the businesses worldwide. A DDOS attack is a multitude of compromise­d systems attacking a single target, thereby causing denial of service for users of the targeted system. DDOS attacks can quickly incapacita­te a targeted business, creating revenue loss, loss of productivi­ty and reputation damage. DDOS attacks degrade Internet systems by overwhelmi­ng servers, network links, and network devices (routers, firewalls, etc.) with bogus traffic. ’DDOS Protection Service‘ provides the detection and mitigation of DDOS attacks, protecting the enterprise network at gateway level, ensuring the customer bandwidth is available for legitimate traffic.
