Richmond, Maliyadeva reach semi-finals

Richmond College Galle and Maliyadeva College Kurunegala advanced to the semi-finals of the Under-19 Division One Interschoo­ls Limited Over Cricket Tournament when they recorded victories over Maris Stella College and Trinity College in the quarter-finals played at the Surrey Village Grounds in Maggona and Bulathsing­hala respective­ly yesterday.

Meanwhile, St John’s College Panadura booked their berth to the quarter-finals of the Division Two Limited Over Tournament with a convincing eight-wicket win over Vidyarthna College in the pre quarter-final match played at Piliyandal­a yesterday. Chief scores: At Maggona (Richmond won by 68 runs) Richmond: 283 in 49.1 overs (Dhananjaya Lakshan 81, Kamindu Mendis 51, Ravishka Wijesuriya 34, Kavisha Abishek 27, Avindu Theekshana 21, Pasindu Ushetti 3/47, Sachin Colombage 2/47) Maris Stella: 215 in 46.1 overs (Sachindu Colombage 65, Sanka Poorna 42, Dushan Guruge 27, Lasith Croospulle 20, Avindu Theekshana 3/26, Dhananjaya Lakshan 2/24, Thilanga Udeshana 2/64). At Bulathsing­hala (Maliyadeva won by six wickets)

Trinity: 214 in 45.5 overs (Hasintha Jayasuriya 86, Hasitha Boyagoda 23, Damitha Silva 3/25, Kavin Bandara 3/32)

Maliyadeva: 215/4 in 33.1 overs (Dulaj Ranatunga 86, Dilshan Kollure 46).
