CLOSE TUSSLE EXPECTED IN KINGSWOOD DHARMARAJA ENCOUNTER
Oldest Big Match in the Hills…
Aclose encounter is expected when Dharmaraja College and Kingswood College battle it out at their 111th Big Match at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on March 17 and 18. This is the oldest Big Match encounter up in the Hills. Inspector General of Police, Pujitha Jayasundera will be the chief guest at the event.
Rajans are led by Deshan Gunasinghe. He has scored one century and six half tons this season. Mirantha Herath was in very good support for the Rajans batting this season. He too has scored a huge century (149) against Ananda and has five half centuries to his credit. Their bowling department has a good variation with bowlers in the calibre of Gihan Vitharana and Nivantha Herath. Nivntha Herath could also chip in both with the bat and ball. They are coached by one of their old boys - Senaka Dissanayake.
Kingswood who are playing in the lower division are led by Avishka Chandrasiri. He scored an unbeaten century against Vidyartha and has four half centuries to his credit. Left arm spinner, Vimukthi Wijesiriwardena is his deputy. He has taken more than 50 wickets this season for the Randles Hill outfit. He is a fine bat as well.
Janith Tennekoon, Yasod Kavinda and Ganindu Kaushalya are the other players to watch from the Randles Hills camp. Rangana Ratnayake will lead their spin department. He is sure to trouble the Rajans batting line-up at this big occasion.
They are coached by former Antonian cricketer, Indika Fernando who was a class act for the Katugastota lads in the 90’s. The Randles Hill school has won one match and lost two this season.
