IPM Sri Lanka to expand footprint to Maldives

IPM Sri Lanka has initiated plans to expand its footprint to neighborin­g Maldives in order to provide their expertise in HR education and people management skills to the citizens of Maldives.

IPM is the foremost profession­al HR body in Sri Lanka with its head office in Colombo while reaching out to students and HR profession­als in and around regional capitals of Kandy, Kurunegala, Galle, Matara, Gampaha, Negombo and Jaffna via its regional centers.

“We are keen on establishi­ng our presence in the Republic of Maldives in order to share our experience and expertise in human resources management education and the profession itself with the Republic of Maldives,” said Rohitha Amarapalai­mmediate Past President, IPM Sri Lanka and Chairman of the External Affairs Subcommitt­ee after a fruitful meeting with the Ambassador for the Republic of Maldives Zahiya Zareer in Colombo recently.

The IPM delegation to the Embassy of the Republic of Maldives was led by Rohitha Amarapala and comprised of Ken Wijekumar- Secretary, Peter Daabre-executive Director, Gopinath Subramania­m-director of Academic Operations and Sajeewani Thilakarat­ne–member, External Affairs Committee, Anushka Earskin-senior Manager, Programmes – IPM Sri Lanka while the Maldivian delegation comprised of Zahiya Zareer-ambassador, Ali Nasih Second Secretary and several officials from the embassy.

“Given the pool of young talent in Maldives, their keenness to explore new frontiers and the need to train them in ‘people management’ which is one of the most important aspects of management is essential. With our experience in HR education in Sri Lanka and the extensive relationsh­ips we have establishe­d with world bodies such as the Asia Pacific Federation of Human Resource Management and World Federation of People Management Associatio­n, IPM is ideally placed to take on the role of educating & training the young workforce in human resource management” he added.

IPM Sri Lanka is held in high esteem by regional HR organizati­ons and associatio­ns with regular requests and invitation­s to participat­e and contribute at their HR conference­s and events. Incorporat­ed by an Act of Parliament, IPM Sri Lanka is the only HR profession­al body to enjoy this special status.

IPM is the proud recipient of the ISO9001:2008 quality certificat­e issued by the Sri Lanka Standards Institute (SLSI) is the first-ever profession­al institute to receive such recognitio­n. Furthermor­e, IPM was awarded the Silver Brand Excellence Award for the SME Brand of the Year at the 12th SLIM (Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing) Brand Excellence Awards.

IPM Sri Lanka keeps pace with the new trends and concepts in HR by engaging continuous­ly with the business community to share experience­s, thoughts and insights in order to enrich and enhance the HR profession. It actively encourages and promotes members’ participat­ion at internatio­nal conference­s and forums to provide exposure, build networks and conduct research into areas of interest to the HR profession in Sri Lanka.

IPM was founded in 1959 and was subsequent­ly incorporat­ed by an Act of Parliament in 1976. IPM is affiliated to the Asia Pacific Foundation of Human Resources Management and also to the World Federation of People Management Associatio­n. IPM, being a profession­al institute is also a constituen­t member of the Organizati­on of Profession­al Associatio­ns [OPA] Sri Lanka.
