Bandara on song for HNB

Centre forward Damith Bandara was on song for Hatton National Bank in their 5 – 1 win over Sampath Bank in their. MHA ‘A’ Division Hockey fixture at the Astro Turf. At half time HNB were leading with one goal to nil.

In the 18th minute of play, Damith Bandara received a pass from right extreme G. Gunatilake to put HNB one up.

After the turnaround, in the 34th minute it was Bandara again who put HNB two up when they were awarded a penalty corner and two minutes later he completed a hat trick when he fired a field goal.

In the 42nd minute A. G. Kumarasinghe netted Sampath Bank’s solitary goal to make it 3 – 1.

In the 52nd minute U. Fernando increased HNB’S tally with a field goal (4– 1).

In the 56th minute D. Bandara came into the act once again whehe got his stick on to the ball to give HNB a 5 – 1 win.

The game was controlled by W. M. C. Dissanayake and H.M.C. Bandara, while Roshan Hemantha was the Third Official. - BM
