Cinnamon Air introduces seasonal Colombo-nuwara Eliya flights

Cinnamon Air, the premier domestic airline in Sri Lanka has been continuous­ly focused on making the experience of traveling in the island convenient and memorable.

As a result, Cinnamon Air has reintroduc­ed seasonal daily scheduled flights between Colombo and Nuwara Eliya in the month of April, maintainin­g its practice since the inception. These scheduled flights make air travel to Nuwara Eliya available to more travellers during the season, which will in turn make the travel experience to the destinatio­n truly remarkable.

From 7th till 16th April, Cinnamon Air will be operating a daily scheduled fight between Colombo and Nuwara Eliya, departing Colombo City (Waters Edge) water aerodrome at 10:30 AM and departing Nuwara Eliya (Lake Gregory) at 11:30 AM every day. The flight time between Colombo and Nuwara Eliya is only 25 minutes, compared to 6 hours of driving time. While these flights drasticall­y shorten travel time, passengers are also able to enjoy detailed bird’s-eye views of Sri Lanka since Cinnamon Air aircraft operate at altitudes below 10,000ft. Not only from the splendid aerial views of diverse terrain of the Island, the excitement of flying to Nuwara Eliya comes from beginning and ending stages of the flights as well—passengers are able to experience take-off and landing on water.

Since commencing scheduled services over 3 years ago, Cinnamon Air has shaped its network to suit market needs. Currently, Cinnamon Air offers daily scheduled flights from Colombo to various locations in the South Coast, the Central Hill Country, East Coast, and the Cultural Triangle, making access to these destinatio­ns quick and comfortabl­e. The seasonal scheduled flights to Nuwara Eliya allow travellers, both local and internatio­nal, to access this popular destinatio­n during its ‘season’ with a premium experience without the ardours of a tiresome road journey, effectivel­y providing an additional days stay in the hill station.

All Cinnamon Air scheduled flights operate in code share with Srilankan Airlines, consequent to which they are also be available for sale throughout the Srilankan Airlines network and all Travel Agents around the world via Global Distributi­on Systems, under a ‘UL’ designated flight number.

Cinnamon Air, owned and operated by Saffron Aviation (Pvt) Limited, is a joint venture between Sri Lanka’s largest listed conglomera­te, John Keells Holdings, MMBL Leisure Holdings (a part of the Mercantile Merchant Bank Group) and Phoenix Ventures (parent of the Brandix Group, Sri Lanka’s largest garment manufactur­er).
