Parliament in 2016: 23 Bills approved, 63 Adjournment motions presented
has been revealed that only 23 Bills have been presented and approved in Parliament in the year 2016 while 63 adjournment motions have been presented during the same year relating to matter of public interests.
This was revealed in the annual report of the leader of the House which was presented to Parliament last week.
The Bills that have been presented to House in 2016 includes Micro Finance Bill, Budgetary Allowance of Workers Bill, National Minimum wage of workers Bill, Fisheries and Aquatic Resources ( Amendment) Bill,asian Infrastructure Investment Bank Agreement (ratification) Bill, Fiscal Management ( Responsibility) ( Amendment ) Bill, Appropriation Amendment Bill, Ports and Airports Development Levy ( Amendment) Bill, Value Added Tax ( Amendment) Bill, Appropriation Bill 2017, Right to Information Bill, Registration It of Persons Bill, Homoeopathy Bill and Office of Missing Persons ( Establishment Administration and Discharge of Functions) Bill
In addition Parliament’s approval has been obtained for 111 resolutions, determinations, regulations and orders and treaties in the year 2016.
The report also revealed that 99 questions under Standing Order 23(2) have been moved on sitting days and have been directed to the relevant ministries for their attention.
Further, seven supplementary estimates have been presented during 2016 as per the report.
